i dont think bodging the doors is an option as they are already heavily bodged. bodging them again would be a proper job. we're not going to be there much at the moment and want to get the place secure as soon as possible.
it may be that they are nice doors under the hardboard, in which case we could spend some time on them later. perhaps put them back, nicely french polished when the house is "finished" we might even replace the origional fixtures
bucket handle door knocker, and bindertwine locks.

May I suggest the addition of some modern features, just to set your own stamp on the door? Perhaps a knicker-elastic door closer?

we actually have one of those already, as we havent found out how to teach the cat how to close doors behind him, yet he knows how to open them.

everyone has to have their fun. he fetches me rabbits and im sure the little girl next door doesnt like that much either.

sorry, i shall rephrase that to make it clearer.
Theres a cat that lives on a canal boat, that moors up by the bottom of our garden. its the size of a bear and is called Parvo. it needs teaching a lesson that he cant come in here throwing his weight around.
I may of been jumping to conclusions, but i thought you and your dog might volunteer to talk nicely to him and show him the error of his unruly ways.

Our dog is a wee West Highland Terrier. I suspect that Parvo (strange name, given his size!) would regard her as a snack.
