What did you do when the Olympic Torch passed by?

Maybe we should have takena stance to help everyone in hte future and done back to basics games that anyone can afford to hold, be a leader instead of a follower.

I can't really imagine that happening any time soon. They seem to add more and more sports to the Olympics every time, inevitably making each games more expensive to stage, and one wonders how long this can continue.

It'll be interesting, though, to see how London really does benefit from the supposed 'legacy' from these games. Previous host nations have not had great experiences, though Sydney seems to have been the best of the last three events:

No reason not to have lots of sports, just do it at a budget price, let people stand to watch or eat, rather than supplying millions of chairs, let epople get wet rather than supplying nice stadiums, use what we have got already and have a proper UK games............

Baseball ( which is basically just rounders for boys in silly pants ) was briefly an Olympic sport, but excluded for 2012 I believe. How about wife carrying or bull riding?

Given the surrounding area of the stadium, maybe when the torch arrives they could set fire to a few abandoned cars with it before the torch enters the stadium - just to make the locals feel included.

The Wenlock Olympics (local to me, even if I am about 150 years too late) sounded entertaining. Some of the early games included "fun events" as the blindfolded wheelbarrow race and "The old woman's race for a pound of tea".

Maybe they could update that, and get the women's beach volleyball teams to do the race for a pound of tea. That would draw attention from half the population at least. And wouldn't the blindfolded wheelbarrow race be more fun with the likes of Usain Bolt competing.

Not a good idea with Boris in the stadium I think you'll have to agree. Mind you, the sight of the big blonde "Honey Monster" pursuing the women's beach volleyball team would be both entertaining and may just set a new 100m record for Britain.
