What can I do to disguise this flue?

I would use Decopierre North to make a faux-stone shroud that will disguise the pipe to look like a chimney, but still be servicable, they could also do the extension block work to match the the rest of the house.

It says on the website it's lime-based and breathable. Do we believe it's breathable? Surely putting a layer of this on your period property is not going to do it any good at all, quite apart from aesthetics?

i joked to paul about putting it over our house saying well its breathable.. and just think ... it will protect the stone.. had him going for a few minutes........ needless to say all i got was a mouthful of expletives haha

There's one way to find out - spray it over bigdoozer, leave it for a year, and if he's still breathing it's fine. If he's not, no great loss....

I'm sorry you're a bit offended by that remark MattW; I take full responsibility for egging Mr Hughes on last night. If you met him, you'd realise that he'd be highly likely to make that kind of remark to bigdoozer's face, but with such a light-hearted manner and smile he'd get away with it.

i am sorry i just find this whole thing a little needless... since when did we all lose our sense of humour and not enjoy a little light hearted whitty banter between ourselves...
