I remember my parents buying wallpaper in the 50s and being asked if they wanted the edges trimming and my dad asking the cost,he was told it was "a tanner a side" my dad thought this too pricey so we spent ages at the kitchen table with scissors,The shop had a machine that re rolled the paper via a couple of adjustable rotary scissors.
