Ventilating a suspended timber floor

Would you not also need to cost a transformer to step down the voltage from mains to 12v? Or are we talking about simply cannibalising an old computer (free at any skip!) so no cost for materials at all!

I think NT already advised using a 12v "wall wart" transformer - basically a 12v version of a mobile phone charger.

Lop off the ends and wire them up to the fan and away you go

Sorry, I didn't know what a Wall Wart was!

I briefly wondered about wiring something similar to the air vent on our gerbil's cage to reduce the humidity, but didn't reckon the beast deserved to live with a permanent draft!

More seriously, is there a cheap form of humidity switch that could be inserted into the system (for underfloor rather than gerbil use)?
