uPVC windows Salesmen on a mission

Chap over the road has just moved in had the white plastic windows replaced with wood look ones.... vile

Just had a bizarre cold-call visit from 2 salesmen advising me to replace my 8 over 8 timber sashes with uPVC dg.

Unfortunately they jumped in their car and took off at high speed when I tried to explain the benefits of retaining and repairing *historic* sashes. I seem to have that effect on people when I start going on, and on about period property matters

Pity, you could have taken the opportunity to take them out of circulation for a few hours.

Apparently wood is rubbish, and I can save myself at least £20 a month on fuel bills.

Excellent , , they have left the door wide open for you.

Householder: How much? I could certainly do with that sort of saving, and it must help with this carbon footprint business too?

Salesman: Yes, and you'd be saving trees too.......

Householder: Have you got a few minutes?

Etc.



You can tie them up for ages, offer them a cup of tea or coffee, and put LOADS of sugar in, and two tea bags per cup, even better if they don't take sugar. They would have to drink it if they thought they were going to get a sale.

You shouldn't have any problem getting persuaded to sign anything if the stories they tell aren't based on physics, but it would be fun to read the description of the visit on here. :twisted:

I was probably in the middle of plastering at the time, and not quick witted enough to think of the correct response to lure them in!

Maybe next time (although I would not be deliberately cruel to them).

The fella pitching to me talked so quickly and manically, I can only assume he was under the influence of something stronger than sugar
