Give them a thorough clean, and when dry wipe with white spirit, using a toothbrush or summat to get into the corners. Thoroughly remove traffic film.
Then rub down lightly with 120 or 150 paper. Again, get into the corners. Just need to cut the shiny surface to obtain adhesion.
Then coat with oil-based gloss. Oil, not water.
My favourite is Sikkens AZ.
No primer no undercoat.
Two coats, rub down lightly between coats.
You can paint the frames one colour and the sashes another, as useterwos. Green & cream, brown & cream, red & cream, two-tone green, etc.
Should never need redoing. But if you don't like the colour, easy to change.
And when you're happy with the result, ditto the door of course.
