As for the flies - i think i'll just have to figure out where they're getting into the house (a badly fitting loft hatch is my best guess) and hope they don't breed like mad up there in the summer.

Have you read this post? I looked at the product on the website and (apart from an appallingly bad video) I thought it looked quite promising.

I can't, of course, tell whether it's a cunningly disguised advertisement.

We has mouses in the kitchen,they get in where the mains water pipe enters, drat them. we do have an idle old cat but . well it tends to play with them then leave them to me.
I have always used the zappit trap type (like Penners) but recently our use of raisins has failed to work. someone suggested tuna fish, I put a bit on the bait peg and "wallop" gottim!
give it a try.. it worked for us.

I found chocolate very effective, but I decided to give up using it because of the damage to my tongue.

Can't speak for the original post. I have purchased some of these myself and have to say I was a little disappointed....maybe it's because they don't fit small panel sash windows very well...but they certainly didn't capture all of the flies in our house.

We did have a very severe infestation in our loft (sufficiently bad that our electricians refused to work up there!). As much as I dislike chemicals...I resorted to using smoke bombs which are especially meant for cluster fly....worked a treat...killed them all dead (with about 8-10 smoke thingys) and we intend to treat the loft area with a pheremone spray in the New Year (which supposedly masks the scent which attracts them back year after year)

If you use a neck crusher/back breaker trap, bait it with buttered toast.
Other baits can be pinched and removerd if the beastie is fast enough, but with buttered toast, they tarry to lick the butter first.
