Hi all,
After much deliberation I've bitten the bullet and purchased proper secondary glazing for our house. It's brilliant and has instantly made the rooms warmer.
The glazing is fitted within the recess then face fixed. As you can see the frames are certainly not square, almost pinching on the bottom left and top right, so there are variable gaps that I need to cover (I could have gone slightly taller on the frame, lesson learned!).
The installation guide didn't mention anything about filling the voids and just adding trim but I imagine they would be quite fragile without some backing.
I was thinking of trimming back the packers with a sharp chisel, filling the gaps with backer rod, then caulk, then cover with trim (wood would look better, UPVC would be easier) which is scribed to the frames.
The frame will stay in year round with the lift out glass removed and stored in warmer weather so I'm incentivised for the frame to look presentable and not using a bath tub full of caulk.
Would welcome any other suggestions!
