We have a meeting arranged with our Conservation Officer to discuss lowering our kitchen floor (very low beams) and replacing the windows (currently soft-wood and rotten). Initial indications are that 'people buying listed properties know what they're getting but then want to knock them around'. At this stage we're interested to know our options, but the low beams in the kitchen are not something we can live with. We did think we could, and have tried, but both of us are tired of hitting our heads (I'm only 5' 6", and my husband is well over 6', needless to say his head is a lot sorer than mine!).
I'm keen to know of ways to manage the meeting with the Conservation Officer as I'm wary that they've already pre-judged the situation before meeting with us. We are prepared to compromise, but I'm concerned that the Conservation Officer may not be. Any tips for managing this?
Thanks
Steph
