I don't know for certain (hence my question) but I'm sure I've read that HIPs were supposed to remove the need for prospective purchasers to get a survey - implying that the HIPs include a survey.

In this case, it sounds like Mr Vendor has had some sort of survey but doesn't want to reveal the full contents. I just wondered what the legality of this was given the new HIPs laws.

If Mr vendor is legally obliged to make the full information available to a potential purchaser then, presumably, the agent should assist with this. If he isn't so obliged . . . well, remind me why HIPs is a good thing?

Yes, 20 years is a difficult timespan; long enough for the survey to be clearly out of date but not long enough to safely conclude that the bellying really is no problem.

Our floors, walls and roofs are all over the place but I'm fairly sure they stopped moving centuries ago, unless the later windows have miraculously remained square while the timber frame moved around them

Regarding HIPS IIRC the survey element was removed in the neutered version that was finally passed - so the only useful part was omitted - apart from a minor improvement in the searches and sellers information sheet being prefilled.

I think the only way it would show up now would be if the energy efficiency inspector had a box to tick marked "howling gales through open gaps in the wall" - as it doesn't he/she probably just ticks the box for "cavity wall insulation installed" and moves on to the next kerbside inspection.

Amen to that. The most talented songwriter of the Beatles, IMO.

The track accompanying the Youtube film isn't the album track, though. Much less polished. I wonder whether it was George's demo of the song.

I've got the boxed album on vinyl - played to within an inch of its life.

consider adding the estimated repair costs to the current asking price and then ask yourselves if you would both still be happy doing the deal at that figure. If you can't actually afford that figure then . . . well let's hope the mind prevails over the emotions!

Very perceptive Penners. The Youtube track is indeed a demo/early version from the Beatles Anthology 3 album. Also, if you haven't already got it, I would highly recommend the 'Concert For George' DVD (not the CD, which doesn't have all the songs performed). Wonderful stuff.

I had the exact same thought when I first read the line up but I have to say that I was very impressed and there was absolutely no way he was overshadowed at all. His rendition of Here Comes The Sun was really superb and his final song on the uke (GH's favourite, also used my Paul Mc) was perfect in every sense.

After seeing this DVD I went to see him at Stevenage Theatre, something I would never before have thought of doing, and he was a complete revelation. The tiny, intimate venue probably helped, but I guess 40+ years in the music business helps put anyone at the top of their game.

This probably all seems a bit 'gushing' but this is easily the best concert DVD I've ever seen. Don't take my word for it though, check the user reviews on Amazon.
