As you walk down the path you can see anyone who might be in the bath. I want to hang an old bell from the gate, that is roughly the same age, so I have some warning, and can duck down under the bubbles when I hear the jingle jangle.
Might this gate be original to the Georgian property? Judging from the maturity of the hedge, the fact a "road" has led up to it for at least 200 years, and the unbroken ha-ha around the front of the house, I think it may always have been the way in.
I've been looking out for gates like this over the last ten months but have only seen one, which is just the same pattern, and outside another Georgian property (sadly boarded up and very unloved) not far from here. Is it a common gate? I want another one.
Any thoughts gratefully received, as ever.
