I take it you dont need to get BC involved when putting up a car port?
I still dont think it was the snow that caused this, snow does not weigh much and there was very little snow there to begin with, if this was the case a simple downwind on a large roof like that could have put more pressure on the roof than a few inches of snow.
I think that wall was on the verge of collapse anyway and it just happened to do it when it was snowing.
Or , melted snow water could have gotten in the the bricks because of cracks due to stress from the car port , then it might have frozen over night, expanded and bish bash bosh , a pile of bricks.
