I've just had an interesting internet experience. I was talking to a friend about feeling overwhelmed about trying to save too many buildings when so many are intent on wrecking them.

It's very effective, but when dealing with the large numbers that auto bots can generate it is an all day job, quote from a friend of mine

especially when the BB is battered by 32,000 DOS/spambot hits in one day like it was last week!

We have 3 people, 2 volunteers and the site owner trying to sort the good ones out, but it is a nightmare.

Other things to look at are that forums tend to be no-income generator parts of sites, but tend to cost a lot of money in upkeep and fees.

A system of several carefully vetted mods who can use their powers to delete the spam posts is better than nothing. I've already suggested it to the powers that be, several months ago, and not had a reply yet!!

I guess it depends on the personalities involved. I know the BB the Graham referred to and I can confirm that it works very well indeed.
Maybe a gentle-persons agreement that mods can only delete spam would be a good start. Or a trial period perhaps?

I think you gave me the wrong pills last time. I tried one on an elephant (just to be safe) and his trunk went all rigid.
