Hi Matt,
I have used the DG27 followed by the Heritage plaster, to be honest with mixed results, some places the adherence does seem better that others, but I think that may well be down to the substrate.
The DG27 goes on more like paint and no trowelling as to the Heritage, I trowelled it on and then after a short time, say 20 minutes, sometimes longer used a sponge to get a respectable finish. I didn't trowel finish the Heritage.
For an even smoother finish I believe you can trowel on the Regency. Get your plasterer to call Mike Wye they really were most helpful.
As to painting, I used both the Earthborn clay paints and Kiem paints. I wetted the walls first as they can suck out the colours, but paint goes on a dream. I did find it very hard to get a colour that I liked as they really were quite different on the walls than on the sample, maybe because of the previous point I made?
I didn't want a smooth gypsum finish, I wanted touchy feely, so the Heritage still left me with some texture.
Good luck
