A splendid (and splenetic) half a page of celebration of the work of Marcus Binney and SAVE by Sir Simon Jenkins, who has moved from the Times (which he once edited) to The Groan.

We are described as a historic buildings MASH unit, which I rather like!

Many old SAVE cases given an airing, and Pathfinder shown up for what it is.

The terrific SAVE exhibition currently at the V and A is mentioned, (which has one of my pics in, with my name, which is rather thrilling!) and the new book out soon celebrating 30 years of SAVE.

I am sure a search on Guardian online will find it.

A great read for all who love historic buildings!

I gather Marcus has a good piece in the Bricks and Mortar section of the Times, too. Must see if I can find it in Times online!

I may be coming down to London again in the next week or so, hopefully the exhibition will still be on?

Please give me a clue - whereabouts should I be looking for your picture? If I know what the building is, I should be able to track the picture down!

The SAVE 30 exhibition is in the temporary exhibition space at the Vand A Heinz / RIBA Architecture Gallery - in at the main entrance, turn right and up the marble stairs. Sponsored by DARE Group Cumbria, who made the whole thing possible by giving us heaps of dosh. Large amount of work, but it's been well worth it. Several politicians were shown round this week...

It's not a huge space, but a very good exhibition - and hard-hitting stuff, not just pretty pics.

My pic you can't miss - it's got my name under it - it's part of the Castle House ones, the 'Restoration' street party last year, when Damien Hirst wrapped the building in a giant artwork, and we had Kieth Allen compere, with Badly Drawn Boy, Mick Jones Andy McKay, Bez, Billy Bragg etc all making the party go with a bang! (Which thankfully Castle House hasn't yet, although progress is slow!)

The pics of Red House Cold Store, which I helped to get listed (the developer has now applied to have de-listed... along with plenty of unpleasant things said about me... it's all biggie battle) and Smithfield General Market are at the far end. The Red House and then Gen Market I've spent vast amounts of time researching the history of, that's currently with the DCMS to try to get that listed, meanwhile the developer has applied for demolition...

We had a splendid launch party last week, heaps of free booze, in the dome at the V and A. Sir Roy Strong was guest of honour, as he was in charge of the V and A at the time of the original exhibitions, and he gave a great speech.

Marcus gave a talk on SAVE at Christie's on Tuesday, and he's giving another at the V and A on the 14th December. Adam was at Ironbridge to give a talk last Saturday.

A SAVE 30 book is being published on December 1st ...

It's all really exciting!

SAVE reports due out soon on Pathfinders - no punches pulled - and Span 4 at Paddington.

We have also set up a Pathfinder fighting fund, through the huge generosity of a SAVE Friend, to help local groups with campaigns.

Any donations to that gratefully received, no matter how small, and all welcome to support the work of SAVE by becoming a Friend. Details on the website.

We have also produced a rather good leaflet on the work of SAVE with details of how to join Friends. If anyone wants a bundle to put in a workplace, local library or historic building with which they are connected and visited by the public, please contact the office and they will be sent out asap.

Thankyou! The Times one by Marcus is good too, 'Denying victory to the vandals', although obviously he's more modest about his many achievements!

Sir Simon's stuff is great. He is, as he says, a long-time supporter and Trustee.

Hopefully, all this publicity will bring more Friends and supporters - and donations!
