Mrs F would agree with you wholeheartedly, she has much better things to do than look after a tin box on wheels. In fact currently she has better things to do without any doubt - as it looks as if mini-Feltwell No.3 may be putting in an appearance in the next 48 hours, we've just returned from the hospital! Only a week late, it must be a boy!

Mini-Feltwell's No. 1 & 2 are currently doing their level best to exhaust Nana. She'd forgotten how Snakes & Ladders could be so competitive.

I have a water supply in there, a sink will be going in. All I need is an old kettle and the tea-making area will be complete. My neighbour even reckoned I should put a toilet in there, but I thought that really was going to far

I'm not going to show this to Mr M. He already has the old cooker down there (in which he has today been broiling motorcycle crankcases, coming back indoors happy but very smelly) and a heater, and a fridge (to put the replacement main bearings in) and has requested a small kettle for tea making purposes. He assures me he doesn't need a loo because, as we aren't overlooked (except by the occasional gravedigger) he can wee with impunity in the compost bin. His own water supply would mean I never saw him at all (though having said that, the water butt seems to be going down fairly quickly....)

Absolutely - although personally I find a freezer is required!

I don't have the luxury of an old cooker to heat the crankcases up in, so I have to use the one in the kitchen (I do make sure they're very clean first!!) A friend swears by putting the plastics from his motocross bike in the dishwasher, brings them up a treat!

Sometimes, that is very tempting. However I can confidently say that said young lady would only dress in said costume if it met with her approval. Very fashion-sensitive these 5 year olds you know.

Well, if you're having problems with a rooftop DAB aerial then there must surely be a transmission problem somewhere; nearby tall buildings and reflection problems perhaps (although I thought the DAB protocol was supposed to be immune to such things).

The plot thickens... some of the faceplates and cabling are new, though the aerial is not. If you put a diplexed FM radio/TV aerial plate it conveniently attenuates the DAB signal to almost nothing (rejecting the frequencies as noise). You need an FM &DAB compatible one and I'm not convinced that's what the installer fitted. Checking on another rooftop connected tuner with a faceplate I fitted it seems I'm getting 100% signal - so it's probably the faceplate or perhaps the cabling.

A bit odd that the portable remains happy to listen to XFM but not Radio2 but then they use different mulitplexes so presumably frequencies too. It may again be that they've dropped the power output on the BBC National multiplex round here and it's just pushed that unit over the edge to nothing. It could also be that the foil backed wall insulation attenuates one frequency more than the other... I prefered analogue when you just waved your arms around until the hissing stopped then stood dead still for the news and weather

I've read similar complaints about the audio quality, particularly considering DAB was originally claimed to be superior to stereo FM and "CD-like". I find that 256Kbps is fine when converting my CDs to MP3s and there's no reason for DAB not to support such bit-rates . . . except commercial considerations to squeeze more channels into the available bandwidth.

Getting more geeky, the issue isn't just the bit rate is too low, the actual compression is an older, lower quality standard with worse error correction and signal rate at the same bit rate than MP3 used by iPods etc.

I don't even need to point them out. A few weeks ago Mrs FF reversed our estate car into some bushes, quite substantial ones as it turned out and they badly dented the rear tailgate. The event was casually related over dinner along along with "still, we're not too precious about cars are we?".

A few weeks ago Mrs FF reversed our estate car into some bushes, quite substantial ones as it turned out and they badly dented the rear tailgate. The event was casually related over dinner along along with "still, we're not too precious about cars are we?".

I wonder how much of that attitude towards the car is rooted in the extent to which the vehicle is perceived as "cute". Mrs P has always been fairly indifferent to the wheeled loves in my life, until a few months ago when we bought a Toyota IQ.

She is a completely changed woman - it's all I can do to stop her washing it every time we've taken it out.

personally this woman likes something i can feel grunting under my foot I have to confess to being a bit of a bloke when it comes to cars... it has to raise more than my eyelid before i will drive it hehe.....Needless to say it causes a headache in the Hampson household when i am demanding BMWs Mercs and Jags hahah....Paul is happy to plod along in the citroen C5 we bought for pootling about in.... me however has to have something with a bit of grunt hahah..

A friend of mine has the loafer style which are a bit more sensible at around £200/300 mark!!

Sadly I believe they were a concept shoe rather than an actual production model. We will have to make do with some Louboutin's instead, only for outings though, wouldn't want to be punching holes in any lovely wooden floors.

You must have been posting at the exact time as me :lol: The Ferrari was a photoshop job too. Although there is a lime green Lambo that drives around here and I cannot imagine why anyone would order that, each to their own though.

Oddly enough, given her powerboat racing history, Mrs FF takes the opposite view and actively dislikes anything with too much 'grunt' on the basis that she'll inevitably drive it too fast. Putting one of our previous Saabs on its roof was probably a contributing factor as well. :roll: Anyway, few road cars can compare to 100mph on Lake Windermere, or so I'm told.

I would tend to aggree on the lake windermere...but i also have a husband who used to race in formula ford etc.. so he got me hooked... he has calmed down a tad but not i lol!..Its me that lusts after the fast cars... and he just says ,, whatever you like darling as long as you pay for it hahah!!
We can all drive too fast for me i just like to know that when some idiot pulls up next to me and looks at me driving and sniggers to himself that i can blow him a kiss and leave him for dust and wipe the smile of the smug gits little chops!
Boy does it feel good haha! but of course i only do that with no kids in the car otherwise i am pretty sensible!
