I had concrete path touching the house wall at or above the floor level inside. Pending doing the proper job (which is now done) I took a grinder to the concrete and cut out 4-6 inches from the wall, then removed the four inch depth of concrete. This improvement in the depth at the wall was, I think, quite beneficial and (assuming you have a 9" grinder) quite an easy job.

I bought a 9" grinder years ago to do that on my last house, and never used it. When I finally tried to use it a few weeks ago, it wouldn't start :roll:. So I do own one, but it won't do a lot!
