Spring is sprung?

Thanks Joce - you're right that I do need to eat properly! The lovely sunshine in Witney is perking me up so today I'm going to have a 'look at the garden and see what needs doing' day. I'm banned from buying plants without planning first where they would go!

Not sure we'll get any holidays this year other than in the north-east which we'll combine with clearing father-in-law's house and lovely walks on the Northumberland coast and countryside.

We have lots of those sorts of days . . . but we never quite seem to get around to doing what needs doing. :lol:

But it's lovely to be back outside again without all that shivering.

It's a lovely part of the country; we have many fond memories of long walks in the Cheviots.

Oooh - I don't recommend that! It'll just depress you.

Just pop out into the street and have a look at all the buds on that house that's completely covered in creeper (or maybe that's yours? ). That way you can enjoy the onset of Spring and the schadenfreude of seeing how much pruning and tidying up work other people have to do.

I know the house, Penners. It's not mine! The owner actually got it pruned last year - well, even he'd got fed up with Virginia Creeper on the inside of his windows! That house is amazing - I'm sure the owner is bombarded regularly by developers.

It's raining in Witney now but I did do lots of weeding and decided not to go ahead with the major revamp of the garden we planned last year. We've got enough jobs to keep us going! I did go online looking for lovely small timber greenhouses though.

However, I am going to spend the weekend rotavating the vegetable patch (a wee bit late - on account of aforementioned altitude/weather in recent months).

I did however hear what sounded like a woodpecker this morning. So either spring is officially sprung, or the bloody moles have invested in heavy machinery.

We have had woodpeackers at the kitchen window all over winter I think. Beautiful birds.

There you go again - just because you live on the English Riviera with your palm trees and your year-round woodpeckers - you have to rub it in to those us further north ! 8) 8)

I went for a bike ride in the woods at the weekend and was still passing ditches with snow in them and a pond with icy slush on the surface! :shock:

Oh dear, he's been at the sloe gin again.

Now I'm feeling jealous of all you people in your gardens. I step into my garden, scream inwardly in absolute despair that the team of hunks it so desperately needs are nowhere to be seen, and run back in again.

Robin - if it makes you feel any better it's rained all afternoon.

And now we've sadly had a family bereavement, which means all our time and energy (what's left after feeling emotionally exhausted) will be going on clearing my father-in-law's house 250 miles away...

Our sympathies Juju - us too, we will be clearing Mr M's mum's house in Bath and struggling with the overgrown jungle of a garden (as well as my own). Ushy
