At last! Outside temperature warmer, some SUNSHINE.

This weekend, In between viewing the public exhibition re Covanta,(ghastly) which will ruin our Capability Brown landscape, checking out a new development for 30 odd houses on the edge of our CB park ( actually looking to be a very good Development so far with plenty of green and allotments included) a safari supper in aid of our local festival, I actually managed to begin to reshape our garden, order the paint for 2 bedrooms, and phone up the brickee to sort out the blown brickwork. It has been a long, grey, cold winter.

Looked out of the bedroom window this morning to see 2 collared doves inspecting last year's nest in our beech tree. Yesterday the male was quite definitely eyeing up the female, they were doing a little chase round the lawn. She wasn't very convincing in her efforts to play hard to get!

So nice to go to and come home from work in daylight as well.

Looked out of the bedroom window this morning to see 2 large rats grazing happily on the peanut and birdseed fallings from the bird table. :evil:

This is our first spring in this house, so we're thrilled to find a huge number of bulbs of all kind thrusting skyward. The snowdrops have been out for a week or two, and the crocuses have all burst forth during the sunshine of the last few days.

No crocii (?) here but it looks like the daffodils are getting ready to put in an appearance.

Our local wildlife residents are certainly full of the joys of spring with various pairs of geese and ducks noisily arguing amongst themselves in between visits to the back door looking for another handful of grain.

That mower photo is truly astonishing. I'm sure the lifting strop is strong enough and was in no danger of breaking, but I can't see anything to prevent the mower slipping about in the harness. I could see it tipping sideways, ejecting the driver, causing the mower to slip back again such that the blades are right above the driver now clinging onto the top of the hedge. Might have been safer to try such a stunt without anyone sitting on the mower, at least they'd only endanger the mower and the hedge.

I'm very envious of these rooms that look like they're from a magazine!

My house is a tip at the moment due to complete neglect arising from my refusing-to-heal fractured wrist which makes everything so much hard work so I've given up on decorating and cleaning! And now we've sadly had a family bereavement, which means all our time and energy (what's left after feeling emotionally exhausted) will be going on clearing my father-in-law's house 250 miles away...

I'm not sure I'm having a very good year so far!

Dear oh dear, that is a rotten start Juju. I'm very sorry to read about your father-in-law; of course that has to take priority.

Your wrist too, now are you eating properly? Sounds like you need a holiday in the sunshine, and lots of good food, to me.

There's tons here that's really pretty squalid if it makes you feel any better, I'm just not photographing it!

If you mean the French windows, no, they're just a bog standard Sadolins dark brown (installed by our predecessors). Quite nice, though.

You have my sympathy and company in a messy dirty house. I have less of an excuse but I strained my back on Saturday fetching the child's playmobil from under her bed and I've had blocked sinuses all week which make it feel like my skull is being crushed when I tip my head - as a result I've worn out a bit of the internet but achieved very little else.
