I wouldn't go for candles or a hurricane lamp - the former too dangerous really and don't give out much light, the latter requires fuel transport and storage and that can be messy. There may be regulations on site about fuel storage to consider.
Years of basic camping then caravanning in tiny and ancient caravans (and I have a small collection of Primus stoves too...) has taught me that although battery powered lighting is a boon, and the joys of a mains hook-up is even better, when the battery runs down or you haven't a mains supply the easiest by far is a simple camping gaz lamp. One with inbuilt ignition could be useful - as you can never find the matches when you need any and even when you do they have gone soggy and are useless.

Just to prove I'm not alone in my lunacy...
Safety is vital.
Make sure you know how to change the canisters safely, without leaks, do that outdoors, light outdoors when possible, have a spare canister, glass and mantle available. And find somewhere it can stand (hanging is OK in certain places but they give off a fair bit of heat and you don't want the shed to burn down). A couple of bricks will stop accidental tipping. That breaks the glass and the mantle.
They give off a pleasant light, and some heat also, which is a bonus. They do hiss a bit though. I don't mind that, it's a comforting sound.
I have spent many happy hours reading with the rain lashing down outside inside a tiny caravan with only the inbuilt 'Bijou' gas wall light. Although our current van has a battery powered lighting sytem, we use a portable gaz lamp as backup and it's fine.
The blue canisters are widely available including most garages, some hardware stores and all camping shops. They are light and easy to transport too.

Collect them... one day they may be valuable. I don't use many in a decade. Actually in the main we use the refillable ones.
I suspect that there may be regs on site about fuel storage and that rules out some types of lamp.
