Hi all,
Hoping someone can help, but fear the worst....
Just been removing the modern plaster from the internal walls in the lounge. House is a timber frame with single skin brick infills.
3 walls done...last infill panel 7ft x 5ft has sand and cement under the modern plaster. It varies in depth between 1cm and 5cm where its been well pushed into the brick work. I've a feeling it was a tanking effort in the past, its stuck to the bricks so tight.
So i've tried chipping it off, mini kangol (on low) and cutting diamonds through it - managed to clean off about a 30cm square in a hour. My efforts have moved the bricks, a few holes have opened up, and remedial work outside is obviously needed.
Just wondering how anyone here has dealt with this - i'm sure you've come up against it.
I'm at the point where i'm thinking it'll probably take me 3 or 4 days to do the whole panel - that's two weekends and with a new baby its a bit tough. Do i bite the bullet and knock the infill out completey and replace - it'll only take my builder a day and will save my time and the house from being in mess for a while.
Thoughts?
cheers, Paul
