Rot in a five-bar gate

OK I'll come clean. It's me that wouldn't like a metal gate. So cold on my delicate skin.

Try it with barbed wire wrapped along the top... You don't hold on for long.

We have lot's of them, they look great when you are used to them, but it's not the gate that costs.... it's when you come to adding the hinges, the bolt, washers, spring. closing etc, they cost more than the gate itself :evil:

Had fun watching a couple with their 2 year old over the weekend. To get to our land, they had to cross a stream - it'd have been pretty boggy either side for about 5 metres - climb through some dense undergrowth, get through a barbed wire fence.

When challenged they said they had got lost so took the easy way..........

We took them up the drive, where instead of opening the gate they climbed over the one with barbed wire on the top :roll:

There is an unexploded old war bomb - supposedly in the woods.

The farmer we bought the house from had lived here during the war and told us of the night he saw several come down but not explode. There is one which has not been located.

I also forgot about the electric fencing...

We repaired our wooden gate by splicing in the required pieces, seems ok.
However, we would not have had to do anything to it at all if my other half had not backed the volvo into it, did an amazing amount of damage to the oak gate!!

Actually I was only thinking i hadn't heard any reports on bird flu for a while - my thoughts were the government knowing how serious it was sent out all the prominent ministers to have affairs etc to direct the flack away from this :lol: :lol: :lol:

Actually that picture was taken about four years ago. The gate was made by Roger, who lives next door. Here's his website
The plants are a bigger now. (And we have oak windows.)

I didn't doubt that the windows would have been improved. However, if the plants are even bigger, has there been a state of siege at Tithe Farm?
