My favourite programme and the cause of many spoilt dinners as hysteria overtook my cooking skills (never very good but a fit of the giggles can create havoc). I couldn't listen at lunchtime today (Sunday) because I was rather upset at the ending of a fantastic era.
What will Samantha do now? and even Sven who made only rare appearances. And what about the old man in the record library? He will be distraut without Samantha's visits.
Perhaps there should be a monument of Humph at - where else? - Mornington Crescent.

Today's archive programme maybe wasn't the best ever, but it did have Willie Rushton, which was a good thing. I thought when Willie died that the show would never be the same, but it managed to rattle on in much the same vein. Humph, though, is maybe irreplaceable.

I rather agree. The one game that I never really found terribly hilarious was "One Tune To The Song Of Another".

But the Chas 'n' Dave treatments were wonderful.

I wonder whether a long series of repeats will find their way on to Radio 7. That should boost the sales of DAB radios.

I actually missed it - shame as I always enjoyed some Willie. Haven't of course had any since - was it really 1996?

What is Radio 7?

It's one of the BBC's digital radio channels. You need a DAB radio to receive it, or I think you can also get it through your TV on a Freeview box.

It's wonderful. It repeats all the classic old BBC comedy shows like The Navy Lark, Round the Horne, The Goon Show and so on. Well worth the £50 for a DAB radio alone.

But - if you should decide to do so - do check to make sure you can receive DAB before buying one.

There is also Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, Radio 6, Radio Asian Network and Radio 1xtra though I doubt there are too many people here who would enjoy that last one...

We live close enough to the BBC transmitter to be able to pick up most programmes by sticking a wet finger in the air.

I'm not laughing. I work a couple of miles from the Redruth transmitter and I can pick up all the TV transmissions on the smallest loops of wire (or a wet finger). As I sometimes measure signals down to the small nano volt level, the millivolt levels of the TV transmissions are a real pain in the arse. Sometimes the idea of working in a sealed metal box does have its attractions. Either that or I take a chainsaw to the base of the transmitter....

A freeview box will let you listen to the digital radio channels through your tv - and you can see endless repeats of Property this and Grand that as well as Relocating like mad. A freeview box is cheaper than a DAB radio, though the sound through your tv may not be as good as through a stereo radio tuner.

Last time I checked. a Freeview box wouldn't work here either, although I have to say endless repeats of stuff I didn't watch the first time isn't an enticement!
