Well yes, it does, and it is sort of fascinating that people would rise early on a Sunday and go to a car boot sale and pay a fiver for a huge nasty gilded ceramic swan, or a plastic cherub, or lime green My Little Pony. But it doesn't make those objects tasteful. I'd also argue that the culture they reflect is less interesting than what went into the creation of any installation or work of art.
Some things are better than other things, and that's reflected in price, and whether or not they end up in the Louvre or on the bonfire. I know many lovely, valuable and interesting things have been burnt by people who didn't value them - but they ought to have known better.
