Sorry to ask a stupid question - is the amount of heat gathered up by your solar power affected much by temperature? Or is is all about hours of sun?

As for what to do with the local youth, if only there were a scheme whereby they could register themselves for odd jobs. I'd part with -ooh, a fiver at least - every week to have the car cleaned or a border tidied.

Ask your local youth service - at the county council - if there is a local youth forum. Ours do all sorts of things to raise money to run activities for the whole community.

As for the solar panels they use UV light to work, so will generate heat in low sunlight times so long as there is some daylight. I should imagine as with any heat generator it'll be more efficient on warmer days when it's not losing heat to it's surroundings, but it's not overly dependant on this.

In the house, here you go. See the doorway half way up the wall, in there.
We have built an insulated room, in the room, for it to go in.
It's level with the dining room and lounge and when we do the lounge most of the room will become part of the lounge so we get a nice view over the paddock to the woods, with the doorway being replaced with a window.
Underneath at ground level this side is the fuel store come workroom.
We don't have any garages yet, bit of saving after all of this expense and then we hope to build some this summer.

Just when we thought we were in for a warm night they find a small leak. Not sure whether to attempt fixing it tonight or in the morning........ it is 23.30, so looks like the morning it is......
The solar panels were recording temps of 57' at the tubes at 3pm, and they warmed the tank a little. The fire has taken the top to 41' so far with no rads on while we heat all the water..........
Rayburn goes back on in the morning.

What is the make and model of the tank you have used please? Also, I'd be very interested in any information on why you chose that particular one?

I let the plumbers decide!!
Having had over a dozen peole round and in the end only receiving 4 quotes, one was for a big biomass boiler and came in at around £60k, including £5k to design the system............
We plumped for a team who where keen to do the job, turned up to quote when they said they would and gave us that quote when they said they would. Since then they have turned up when they said they would and looks like they will be finished on time.
Our flue liners hadn't arrived so one of them had to go to Blackpool yesterday to fetch it, and they did carry on last night, finishing off at 3.30.
Radiators now turned on and the house is warming up.

Our team are FurtureProof Energy Ltd.
They are Polish, but live in Scotland.
They have specced a Polish system, but for our needs it is ideal, as so many people came and said what we wanted couldn't be done, but apparently it is done all the time on the continent.

The fire is a Lechma
The tank is a SISS900, 200 litre tank in a 900 litre total size tank.
