I have the splendid IE7, and I do now have the facility to enlarge screens really, via a little icon in the corner - it's just I did find myself peering closely at the small print yesterday before remembering!

It may be that the mouse stuff was just a one off - my computer tends at times to have a mind of its own, but that's possibly the fact it gets used and abused so much.

PS the mouse is a Microsoft one, and I do NOTHING technical at the insistence of my computer man, who has to come and sort it all out when I have made it all go funny...

OK - clicking IE7's zoom level has the same effect. The mouse wheel thing is just quicker (if you measure your life in milliseconds).

But I wasn't claiming that Macs are best, was I? Just mentioning a small problem that they don't suffer from. I'm sure that in all other respects they're rather second-rate (but mine does look very pretty).
