To answer your question if I may I believe that, while single sheet glass only requires one side scored, laminated glass requires both sides scored and a sharp knife to cut the laminated material.
I could be wrong though.
That also assumes that whoever is cutting the glass knows what they are doing.
With glass cutting, confidence with the material is nearly everything.

yes, score both sides and snap, then bend to break the central plastic layer. A whole roof would be a hell of a lot of glass cutting. It would be very tempting to use ultrawide slates, like several feet wide. And then tempting to use ultratall ones

The guy that I have watched cutting laminated glass pours meths into the cut and lights it which cleanly severs the plastic layer.

I've never managed to work out how he manages to align the two side cuts perfectly though...

I havent, no, I've watched it done and he was quick enough, I daresay a little practice would be called for.

Toughened simply has the wrong properties for the job. When broken it falls apart, letting water in. Laminated and wired OTOH stay together when broken. Also toughened is a lot more money IME.
