Many thanks for the very kind, though excrutiatingly embarrassing, comments (I'm sure I ticked the 'no publicity' box somewhere). Penners correctly related the tale of our first meeting and his astute assessment of our project. Young and impetuous fool that I was, I was clearly too stupid back then to realise the full extent of the eminently sensible advice being imparted. Four years on, I'm still working to prove him wrong and I reckon another four years should just about do it. I'll have the last laugh yet!
As for my posts being helpful to others, if I have managed to pass on even a tiny fraction of the expert help and advice I have received then it has all been worthwhile. In this respect, Andrew Gayton and Middi deserve an honourable mention for their many visits over the years and admirable patience in the face of my endless questions. Yes, it has been a steep learning curve but, thanks to PPUK and the wonderfully generous people who inhabit these here parts, it has been a very enjoyable and rewarding one. Long may it continue - for all PPUKers.
As for the culinary suggestions, having visited Scotland regularly over many decades I can just about cope with the concept of deep-fried lard and similar things (mentally, not physically!) but Milady's chocolate brussels example must surely be the work of the devil.
