Well another interesting thread develops!!

I can't vouch for the accuracy or otherwise or the finials being "Quaker Balls" - just something the stone guy said - perhaps he was trying to add romantic rural charm to lumps of otherwise uninteresting stone!

Took another pic of the porch at the weekend so that the topstone can be better seen - it really looks rather nice, so can stay - OH was joking about it making a good solid base for the bracket for the pub sign !!!

DOnt even joke about it - my dining room is already being referred to as the tap room " yeah we could build the bar here and put the kegs in the stone alcoves, they look just like vaults, I thought a card table here and we could get bistro style tables and chairs - hey shelli you could do pub food, it's just what this village needs "
