Well, as I've been umming and ahhing over it for months, Ive bitten the bullet and bought a job lot of kiln dried oak. There will be a myriad of other uses for it if the bookcase/cover doesn't pan out as planned due to my non-existent carpentry skills.

If all else fails I can chop it up and use it in the wood burner until I can save up for the radiator!
