Period Presents - What did you get?

Father Christmas was good to me this year although I didn't get the lead calme mould that I asked for, but I did get something else that's going to be the pride of my collection. I can't say what it is yet as I won't get it until the end of January when my friend brings it over from the UK. It will then appear as 'whatsit '...

What did everyone else get from Santa?

A nice bottle of whisky and a tumbler engraved "No 1 Grandad".

A woodworking book, stove thermometer and a damp meter (for logs)…. Also about 1/2 stone extra weight…. need to get back out into the garden to work it off

A plug-in ice-cream/sorbet maker, a lovely sparkly dress, perfume, a great big pond and a Victorian coffee set. Very spoiled.

Santa brought me a book called 'Deportment for Dukes & Tips for Toffs' which I think is a must for all Period House owners...this bit caught my eye in the section about 'The Journey'...

We got the best present ever - a glorious hardback book crammed with pictures of our son's wedding in May. Absolutely heavenly reminder of a magical day.

I agree wholeheartedly with that advice, it is particularly true on long haul flights especially if having to suffer the indignity of cattle class. However such privations can be redeemed at the years end when there is money in the piggy bank to put towards the ABC present ( Anniversary, Birthday, Christmas all rolled into one ). Much more twinkly and pretty colour(s) IRL

Two pairs of pyjamas!,theres posh,new P-Js and NOT because I`m going into hospital!.

The coffee service looks lovely. Clean it with silver dip and not metal polish though.
I used to have a silver tea service but silver looses the heat so fast the tea had to be poured immediately otherwise it was cold.

I forgot, what did I get for Christmas?
Another train set (Hornby Dublo 3 rail), a wall mounted sound system for the kitchen so I can play USB drives while cooking, 6 boxes of Paynes chocolate brazils amongst other things I've already forgotten.
Not like my sister who had a new C63 AMG (imported with special additional features) and a holiday in the most expensive hotel in Dubai .... that she didn't want to go to!!!!!

If you ever allow Mrs P to see that bauble, Yer Ladyship, I shall never speak to you again.

I was fortunate enough to get a very special Kit-Kat. It arrived considerably before Christmas, but having been forewarned of a mystery gift, I exercised enormous will-power and resisted the temptation to open it early. Imagine the envious looks I got from the rest of the family on Christmas Day, when I revealed a GREEN KitKat - small but perfectly formed!

What did it taste like? Hmmm... difficult to describe. It's flavour fell somewhere between heavenly and like nothing on earth.

Thank you very much to my not-very-anonymous benefactor!

2 jumpers and an Ivor the engine DVD for the little one. We also got central heating but that was not really a present as I had to work pretty hard for that one.

(and thanks for the nice comments on the coffee set, unfortunately it can't be used as the interior of the pot is in very poor shape, but I am trying to amass enough plate to fill that big cupboard in the dining room and this a nice but inexpensive space filler. Just £75 for the lot which I thought was very good but I think a bit devalued because the lid of the sugar basin is missing, but still, a wonderful pressie from my treasure of a Mum)

NO! no trip to hospital for me! it`s just that previous pairs were bought for that reason.It seems so extravagant having TWO pairs for no reason (maybe someones trying to tell me its cold upstairs!) great coffee pot!
