I had the all-clear from the doctors today. My neck is fixed - it's as good as it's going to get. I have more mobility on one side than the other, but if I were a building, that assymmetry would lend character, right?
Glad to hear things are progressing well - I presume that means you're out of the neck brace now, which must be a relief. Mrs FF broke her neck ages ago and has restricted mobility on one side but it has never caused any particular problems in itself so I'm sure you'll be OK.
Last week we had an air ambulance fly very low and very slowly over the house. Thinking it might be looking for somewhere to land I went outside to wave it into the garden if necessary, but it found somewhere nearby instead. I assumed it was another road accident as we've had air ambulances land in the village a few times in recent years as they can't get to the worst blackspots because of all the forestry.
Anyway, I forgot all about it until yesterday when speaking to a neighbour and it turns out it was called out for her 75 year-old father-in-law who had been 20 feet up a tree pruning branches when the cut end of one of them sprang up, hit him in the face and knocked him out of the tree! He's recovering in hospital with a broken nose and cheekbone - bad enough at any age, but certainly no fun at 75.
Well done on your healing. I hope you get a bit more movement over time, but if not, asymmetry definitely lends character and just thank goodness you are still with us. It must have been extremely painful and horrible, please take care.
Zebra - I'm ashamed to have missed this thread back in August, as I was in furrin parts. I'm so sorry that you've been through such a trial, but delighted that you're back in the Serengeti at last.
How about keeping all hooves firmly on the ground, now?
