Plus I get loads of annoying texts, often at unsociable hours, promising me they've got a PPI claim all ready for me. I've never bought PPI.

I've not had these as text messages but I've had a lot of telephone calls for the same thing. I've also never bought PPI but telling the callers doesn't seem to put them off.

I'm getting very good at just putting the phone down before they've finished their introductory spiel. It used to feel uncomfortably rude to do this but after a while I concluded that they were the ones being rude by disturbing me with unwanted calls and my natural guilt began to ebb away.

Needless to say, I have no registration with that website and the actual url underneath the suggested link was 'http://e-flashgames.com/up/load'

Goodness knows what happens when that link is used, but the email went straight into the bin.

Most telemarketers are earning their living on commission so by getting off the phone quickly you're doing the poor sod on the phone a favour.
I get told off for being rude to cold callers as "they're only doing their job" so now I let them blather on, sometimes I ask silly questions (the ones they just asked you is always good), sometimes I just leave the phone on the side and carry on with my day. I get so few landline calls I want that I can afford to tie up the line for a few minutes. Mentioning you're on the telephone preference service usually gets them off the phone instantly

I've recently been getting lots of email invitations to connect with people on Windows Live. As I have a number of random Microsoft accounts dating back over a decade I thought this might be genuine, if not wanted, but a check in my Spam folder showed a long list of identical messages - ho hum.

SMS spam is my least favourite, but my provider O2 are the worst offender with 2am offers for stuff I would never want

I can commiserate with that. I'm with Orange on a Pay-As-You-Go plan but I make so few calls that I only need to 'top up' with about £10 every few months or so.

But that doesn't stop the end-of-the-month flurry of text messages reminding me of all the various 'special rewards' I can have if I top up by a certain deadline. Still, at least they don't arrive at 2am.
