I find the Hep2O plastic stuff is a godsend if you're routing pipework through fiddly spaces. it also keeps your water warmer, as the plastic is far less conductive than copper. And with copper prices still soaring, it's cheaper, too. I'm a convert.
You do need the more expensive barrier tubing if you want make your central heating circuit plastic, as the ordinary Hep2O stuff allows oxygen to enter the pipework, which isn't good for your radiators or boiler.

so i have spent ages perfecting my soldering technique for nothing?? if you think our plumbing can be complicated, look at the french.... they flare pipe ends and BRAIZE for flips sake...... next time i have to completely plumb a house i will check out the plastic route... is it made from recycled plastic?
