OT, Yummy scrumptious childhood food stuffs of yester year.

Yummyscrumptious , i was 4 or 5 at the time and it was a delicious snack that would possibly make me heave now.

I remember sugar on bread, so long as it had butter as well. Did you ever try condensed milk on bread?

Sugar on bread did indeed have hundreds of butter spread about it.

I used to love it.
Re sugar, butter and bread.
Prior to becoming a teenager any party to which I was invited the host was instructed to supply myself with a supply of buttered bread and a plate of caster sugar.
(granulated is so crude in comparison - still have it with my tea)
That is all I'd eat at a party with the sole exception of raspberry jelly.

Lutyens, ah, marvellous work, what an originator. Loved his buildings in New Delhi.

Childhood food - bread and dripping. Arctic roll. Marmite sandwiches. Chicken in a basket. Schloer, and if I'd been good, Sanatogen. Mmmm.

Being pre-decimal, I remember my first experience of the horrors of taxation, when purchase tax was added to certain sweets and (iirc) salted peanuts!

In any form, but on soldiers with egg especially. Marmite XO that has come out recently is even more delicious though.

Chocolate spread, although the very thought of it now makes me feel queasy.

Grandad's beer shandy, with lemonade made in a SodaStream (remember those?). The lemonade to beer ratio started off high, and reduced markedly as I got older!

Basically, butter a slice of bread on one side and then place under a grill until the butter starts to turn golden brown. Eat

I **love** Victory V's! (Even though I am about 60 years younger than their target audience!). Didn't like them as a kid though, not sure any kids would. Fishermen's Friends are OK, but Victory V's ( I wonder what era they were first marketed in???) are better.

Lol this is funny. When I was preparing salad last night, I started to remenber as a child my mum putting sugar on lettuce sometimes :roll:

1970's pick & mix is probably my best memory.

And potato cakes cooked in bacon fat.
