Osmo vs Briwax

Hi all, i am looking for some advice. I have read different views, but can’t seem to find where. So though let me just ask the question. I am exterminating on restoring the floor in 1 of our bedrooms, which i use as my office. It is a pine floor, building is 1900’s. I have a few boards to replace and nail down some loose ones. I have sanded just with my orbital sander to see the effect and colour of the boards, plus this just give me the check that there are no nails protruding out, before i go and hire a floor sander. Once all gaps and holes filled and sanded down. what is best to finish the floor with. I am not looking to stain the floor at all. Should i be looking at the Osmo products, Wax vs oil or the Briwax options.

thank you, good read. So clear from that the Osmo is out. I will do some additional research

Although it’s not the clearest conclusion in that thread - recommendations were either:

Traditional - use Shellac (Mylands shellac barrier seal for floors - other brands are available...) 3 to 7 coats, then 2 coats of beeswax and canauba (Mylands Traditional or Harrells - from W.S. Jenkins)

or

Bona Prime undercoat then Bona Traffic HD if you needed something harder wearing

That said, plenty of members here have used Osmo polyx and been happy with it

I used Fiddes Shellac Sealer on the tatty pine boards in my hallway at Toby's advice and it was an absolute joy to apply and very happy with the finish. Topped with Fiddes floor wax, bit smelly but straightforward to apply and polish off with a cloth. It did stay quite slippy for a time afterwards, particularly when you still have dust sheets down...

I did try a tester of Osmo Polyx first but it was filthy stuff and difficult to remove when I didn't like the colour.

The preparation of the boards on the other hand was much less joyful and took a lot of hard graft but that's always the way, 90% preparation, 10% application.
