I've never forgotten my first business trip to Scotland. Sitting in my hotel room watching TV, I discovered that it was standard practice for TV to close down at 10.30pm, with the final 10 minutes devoted to a thunderous sermon by a minister of the kirk.

Don't mock avocado bathroom suites Feltwell. I'll start a thread on it one day, but surely white is the least sensible colour for a bathroom, unless you really like cleaning.

That's a lesson I learned years, nay decades ago, I just wish sometimes it could be somebody else's hard work that I benefit from sometimes.

Not just poker. As my 94 year old gran commented to me one time, when she was going through a spell of having trouble sleeping, "you won't believe what they have on Channel 5 at 3 in the morning you know - it's quite educational dear" - said with the kind of mischievous twinkle in her eye that only a little white-haired old lady could get away with.

As it's the summer solstice, I do hope we've all been out in our gardens, worshipping trees and dancing around in a circle, preferably naked.

I suggest delegating the naked dancing round in circles to a three-year-old. All you need is the child and a garden sprinkler.

I was in the front garden, fully clothed, cursing trees (that were in the way) whilst putting scaffolding up. I suppose I could pretend I was trying to get closer to the sun gods, rather than starting the epic task of repairing the rotten, leaning, knackered lounge bay, having been forced to start by Mrs F's wasp-swatting glass-breaking incident. The glass was holding the sash together, and one thing leads to another as with any repair job..........

We spent the afternoon and evening at a very stylish Wedding. great friends of ours 'tying the knot' after 30 years--different in that the Bride was given away by her youngest Grandson aged 9, her Bridesmaid was her grand-daughter aged 16, her eldest grandson aged 13 delivered the address at the Church--she arrived, in a Morgan, skipped down the aisle to a jazzed up version of Jerusalem and we all danced out of the Church to Status Quo's Rocking all over the World, whilst the Church bells rang out across the Town---very very moving and such fun, ending up with a proper Champagne Tea in their garden. Not bad for 3 score years and 10!

I made a last minute decision to see George Benson in concert. Not as jazzy as I would have liked, but definitely in great shape at 3 score and 10 also.
