Hi Doug,

Was that St John's church in Yeovil? They've just had a massive restoration scheme on the tower. A friend of mine worked on it and was very pleased to be getting 6 months work at the beginning. Less pleased after working at a few hundred feet through the winds of last winter!

Yes, it was. It was about 20 years or so ago and part of the my contract was the repointing (lime mortar of course) of the tower replacing some very badly weather worn stone. I can't recall at the moment where the original stone used to build the tower was quarried but matching stone was no longer available so we used some from another source and they stood out like a sore thumb!!

I've no excuse not to complete the restoration of the bay underneath now! Well, it might wait until spring........
