It's the country's most tedious road. As if the 50mph speed limit for the great majority of the journey between the two towns wasn't bad enough, it carries so much slow traffic that 50 mph is usually an unachievable dream.

Hear hear! The A140 south of Norwich is the most depressing drive in Britain. The fact it takes you to Ipswich doesn't improve things, of course.

Oh, don't miss the north Norfolk coast just for that. It's worth every minute of the drive, once you get there. North of Norwich the A140 isn't so bad.tobydog said:We've been wanting to spend a couple of days on the north Norfolk coast near Cley but I keep putting it off because I simply can't be bothered to drive there.

Its 45mph monotony was only punctured by the need to put a series of roundabouts in that appeared to interdigitate with cart tracks running into the pine forest. I suspect there were escape routes for people driven insane by the tedium.
The destination itself, I am told, is rather nice.
Damn! I hadn't spotted that.FamilyWiggs said:It might look like a road that comes away from Croydon. But if you look closely, it can also be used as a road to go towards Croydon.
I know what you mean. They're so much more troublesome than the ones that wear shoes.tobydog said:Just watch the razor clams in bare feet.
