No I don't make a living out of damp proofing!

Since your profile states that your occupation it 'damp', perhaps you could point us to the scientific and peer reviewed publications that demonstrate the effects of capillarity in mortared brickwork and masonry.

Agree with Biff - let's have the evidence to the contrary? From a number of studies?
