We passed this today on the way back from the sea side , clay lump is a bit on the far side of wrong but very repairable , the 50' long out buildings have fire places in at least one of the units.

I'm pleased to confirm that it looks like we'll be entering our third winter with the reverse concept Penners - a boiler but no radiators:

I am not far behind you F.W. although my boiler is in a box in my living room. i have got the pipe work and mounting brackets fixed to the wall though so i am nearly there.
edit - do you get much heat from that by-pass tube then?

Not as much as you'd expect (which is pretty much nothing!!)

Ah, this house was on my wishlist when we were looking, it'd already been on for two years and the estate agents (it was on with someone else) really didn't want to show us it as it needs so much work. Its in a lovely area in waveny valley, right on the roadside though. Am sure somebody with the courage to take it on could get it at a pretty good bargain price as its been at that price all along

F.W you always did boast a fine erection for the Christmas holidays , this one is no exception.
there didnt seem to be a lot wrong with this house from what i could see, the clay lump is badly deteriorated and its still in a scratch coat of render but it did look like lime render and its not cracking anywhere. clay lump is easy enough to sort out. i am surprised that the asking price hasn't dropped in two years so i can only assume the owners are in no rush to sell it, a cheeky offer might work though.

I've driven past this house quite literally thousands of times over the years and often been unsure what the owners are trying to do. If you look at this picture of it -
you will see the view I get as I pass.

That tiled bit of the roof has been part tiled like that for years. There are actually piles of spare tiles up there on the roof waiting to be laid, and there is a scaffold tower in place ready to get up there are do it. I have honestly been very tempted to stop and offer to do it for them!

On the plus side though, it really could be a very nice house, and although it is right on a road it is a very minor one so please don't be put off by that if you are interested.

Ok, Me!, how do you manage to save a pic from Google Streetview? For some reason, I have never managed to get it to work and was beginning to think it was some fiendish Microsoft trick!

It looks like you may have to pay for it now, but I've got an ancient version that I think was free. Basically, if I can see something on my screen, then I seem to be able to capture it with PrintKey.

I should probably add that I saved that picture as a low resolution gif to upload to this page, but PrintKey does capture much better quality images than that.

You don't need any special program. If you press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard, a copy of your screen will be copied to your clipboard. You can then paste the image into your favourite image editing program, gimp is recommended and is free, though mickysoft paint will do. The image below was taken this way and the house has been like this (with people living in it) for at least 5 years. At least it isn't as period property - though it might turn into one before the roof is fixed...

Thanks! Best I had managed was printing to a .pdf but it is then a hassle to crop the picture on Acrobat.

Surely, though, it would have been easy for Msoft to have a "save image" function on Streetview/Google Maps? Perhaps it is a privacy/copyright thing. I also find that if you email the link, it sometimes seems to default to the initial search that you did, rather than the view that you ended up with. I guess it will all get better with time, but Streetview is such a useful desk tool that it is frustrtating that it isn't easier to share the outputs.
