I've had four motorcycles over time but not for a while now. I got fed up getting to work cold and wet and most girlfriends were not impressed. Thankfully the only one I actually fell off (a few times) was the first one which was a classic orange Yamaha FS1-E (1973 M -reg). Great fun though. 60+mph downhill with the baffles out .

I can put my hand up to a Saab. Currently on my 4th one, a 9-5, which might be looked down upon by the Saab purists but it's still doing sterling service in its 14th year. I also have a full motorcycle licence, though I haven't owned one since the 80s (Yamaha DT400) and fortunately survived those dangerous early years with nothing more than two weeks on crutches after a nasty bump while off-roading (nothing actually broken though!). Musically, I play bass in a couple of bands but only ever approach jazz from the blues end of the spectrum. I've also been known to indulge in a spot of fly fishing. :wink:

Don't drive a Saab, but have in the past. I do drive an old BMW. Can't stand jazz, and the motorbike count is currently only 2 ( ) - the VFR on the earlier picture (aka "the fridge" as my friends called it - for obvious reasons) and a CRM250, which is a great bike but may have to go as I never get a chance to get out and get muddy on it

TZR - there's a bike you don't see any more. I wouldn't fit on one though

Guilty as charged to having had Saabs! Only once had a bike (a Honda trials thing, rapidly replaced by a Kawasaki KLF 300 ATV). No-one has yet mentioned Land Rovers, of which I've had a few.

I had a Discovery once, but I know that's not a real Land Rover, and I can raise your 35x (very nice btw) with a MF135. But nowhere near 'snap' really . . . unless a Wrigley Truck counts as a wild card? :wink:

Never had a SAAB, but mmm, I used to ride motorbikes, had a couple of Hondas (one with a sidecar made of a pram chassis, some dexion and the cedar lining from an old wardrobe, it smelt better than it steered), a Greeves Scottish, and a Sunbeam S3.

Have a greeves 20T, forerunner to the scottish I used to ride in trials,then vmcc trials,then used it for going to work and green lanes and then fitted it with a triumph daytona engine!must have had it over 40 years but its a little like triggers broom!never owned a saab but have done many miles in a twostroke,Landrovers S1 with a rover V8 then a s3,then a TD5 disco,still have a scott,douglas,nimbus and the greeves plus a two bearing morris minor after a serious ebay cull!

At the risk of going even more off-topic, that sounds like a pretty epic trip - worthy of a television series these days! I always wanted an XT500 (no XT600s in my day) as I didn't really get on too well with my two-stroke DT400 but I got all sensible and bought a car instead.

Now you mention it I recall seeing a zebra on a motorbike stopping to ask directions for the causeway to Malaysia. I wish I had known that was you, you would have been most welcome to stop and graze here and rest the weary hooves for a while.
