New colours - others having reading problems?

Apparently it's not just me, Anita is finding this redesign hard to read also.

I too find the new colour scheme hard to read - the definition is terrible - not good for us with less than perfect eyesight! Trouble is that I cannot find the link to the feedback forum to let my views be known.

I've already e-mailed Rob and Simon. I think the sticky list could do with separation from the posts list, more spacing between the items in the list, it's making my eyes jump about, and Anita and I are having trouble seeing the print!


Also - orange background for quotes is not really too good either.

I quite liked the previous colours, the Adam colours of this revamp are attractive, but some readability issues.

Home page seems fine and clear enough, but I don't spend much time on the Homepage. Events list a good idea.

The orange and grey/green backgrounds could be a bit lighter for readability and the type in the answer boxes needs to be black instead of dark grey. Older eyes need more contrast between the background and the letters.

The overall design does look much cleaner and I didn't have any problems finding the buttons.

The logo or picture at the top of the page is not loading for me. I'm getting the question mark box saying an image isn't loading.

In fairness to Simon, no. I asked him to darken the text to give greater contrast against the background colour, and he's kindly made it black.

No logo either, loathe the green too. Can we have a colour choice option as on some other sites? I much preferred the clearness of the old parchment colours. Could text be bolder?

But I suppose we will get used to it!

If you want the text larger, try this.

Hold down your CTRL key, and at the same time roll your mouse wheel. Rolling in one direction (away from you on mine) zooms the screen image larger, and the other way zooms it smaller.

I don't mind the green, it's the pink which I really find hard work. A difficult backgound colour for me.

And these orange background boxes... where the type is still quite pale ... and the forum main page is simply too crowded, it needs space! I'm really having problems with sorting out topics.

Simon has mailed to say he's working on that and it will take time.

The homepage I like though, and the changing pictures. (I note one Agony Uncle now has his mugshot on site... let's hope the rest of us are never asked to follow suit.)

Now that the colours are all very Geo, will we be be expected to choose toning ones for special effects?

Both my sons are colour-blind.

Neither of them can read ANYTHING with the forum's new colour-scheme. It makes all text completely invisible for them, whereas before, they could both read the posts (much to my frequent embarassment).

The green and orange backgrounds are far too close in tone to be differentiated; and the grey text is too dim. Not good for those who are afflicted, I'm afraid. And even I, with my perfect-with-strong-glasses sight, can't manage it well.

Change it back!

It would be interesting to know how many people took up the invitation to inspect and comment on the proposed new site.

I really can't believe that Simon would have ignored quite so many suggestions (especially the point about colour-blindness).

I got the impression that there was to be a redesign of some parts, but the forum wasn't going to change. So no reason to think the colours etc would alter.

I am finding this hard work and rather bitty to read, I have to say.

The Period Property Shop is still in the 'old' colours. Maybe it's the shock of the new, but I have to say I still prefer it and am finding it easier to read.

I'm struggling with it all as it is! I know that was a joke but please no!

I really am finding it messy, too much going on colourwise so hard to read and it makes my eyes dance about.

Some dyslexics and those with colour differentiation problems must be in real difficulties!
