Friends of ours had a chimney fire last night; the seat was in the valve at the top of the stove which restricts air flow into the flue. Apparently there was a large build up of tar, which eventually caught, and wasn't spotted until a delivery driver commented on the flames coming out of the chimney. A bit embarrassing, since our friend is a fireman, and had to watch his colleagues climb to the roof and stick a hose down the chimney.
