We have now got possession of our cottage and yesterday went in to give it clean prior to moving in on the 8th May. The cottage has been empty for six months and had been neglected for the last 50 years. So lots to do, first though is to make it liveable. The lady who lived here on her own for the last twenty years must have been a tough one to have managed with only a cold tap and very basis facilities. She was though incontinent and the bedroom has a very strong smell of urine.
I removed the carpet, and Lino then scrubbed the floorboards with a sterilising solution.. Had hoped the urine had only affected the carpet it had though soaked the floorboards. Left the floor to dry and the window open, and went back later only to find the smell just as strong. Would like some advise as to the best way to cure this as we need to move into this room in two weeks time!
Regards David
