I'm fairly sure the lurid sex life would have stretched to the presenters of time team. One secretary of an archaeological section that I was familiar with used to keep a "family tree" of who had ****ed whom. What happens on site stays on site except when it amuses a secretary.

And there I was thinking the happy smiling faces were a product of their discoveries whilst on their hands and knees in a muddy trench. Now you tell me it was because they were all looking forward to working out the kinks in their backs - no wonder there were so many series. :shock:

All this talk about archeology and the mystery of the deeply buried digital watch reminded me of the following joke:

After having dug to a depth of 10 metres last year, Scottish archaeologists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the Scots, in the weeks that followed, English archaeologists dug to a depth of 20 metres, and shortly after, headlines in the English newspapers read: 'English archaeologists have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the Scots.'

One week later, 'The Kerryman,' a southwest Irish newsletter, reported the following: 'After digging as deep as 30 metres in peat bog near Tralee, Paddy O'Toole, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing, thereby concluding that 300 years ago Ireland had already gone wireless'.
