My work is progressing nicely today

For a change anyway!!!!!

Today, as I don't like to be doing one thing at a time, I started in the second bedroom.... well I've got to strip the beams here before we lay the new floor and then plaster and build the new kitchen.

So, on looking at the plastering in this room, I'm pleased that lots of it is still the original lime plaster, some has been renewed with cement, but luckily where it has the new plaster has been put onto the old laths, so this new plaster which is quite loose has come off adn I'm looking at good old workmanship behind.

I've also taken off a piece of plaster board and found more woodwork that'd been covered up.

I'm so happy I'm going to have a cup of tea before I start clearing up the mess I've made before Jo gets home!!!

Well I'm sorry to steal some of your limelight (as opposed to cementlight), Graham, but as of 5 minutes ago, I'm feeling pretty smug myself.

I modified the heating system yesterday, to reposition a radiator. Our system has always suffered from airlocks and when I refilled it, I got the mother of all airlocks - nothing would budge it.

So today I took a hosepipe up into the loft and poked it down the downpipe from the header tank into the system, and got Mrs P to turn the tap on full bore. Whahay!! Burps and splutters from the vent pipe, then a clear flow of water - and no more airlock!

B*gger the tea and biscuits, I'm having a glass of wine with my lunch!

I've just removed some bricks from between the ceiling beams and taken some pictures of the so very smug white lime mortar between the bricks that I suppose where put up to cover the timber framing in whatever time this was fashionable to do so - victorian?
