My plumber's got the flue

I have just broken the habit of a lifetime by following my own advice and got a flu jab yesterday.

Being of an elderly persuasion, Mrs P and I have had the annual flu jab for some years now. Since we started having it, I've never had flu (although Mrs P succumbed to the porcine variety last year - but that was before swine flu was included in the innoculation cocktail).

The trouble is that you never really know whether a winter free from flu is due to the jab, or just to the avoidance of infection.

Don't be ridiculous, Yer Ladyship. Flu is, in almost all cases, a transient condition. Those with bad backs (naming no names) suffer courageously throughout their lives. And they do so without ever talking about their agonised condition.

We just suffer strange looks of disbelief when we make excuses not to help "because of my back". You can always tell that they don't believe you and have no idea of what it feels like if you don't heed the warning signs!
