Mists and mellow fruitfulness

I know this isn't strictly a period property topic, but hasn't this been a really beautiful autumn? I can't remember better colours in the trees, particularly in the spell of lovely sunshine we had a short while ago.

I took to carrying my camera whenever I was out with the dog.

Yes, I'm sorry this is well off-topic, but my excuse is that there's a period property just the other side of the trees in picture 2! :roll:

Mostly damp, grey and soggy here, with a few bright sunny days. There are some amazing colours about. There was snow at the end of October, for a couple of days.

Damn - I've been putting off uploading (or is it downloading?) my pics from my **th birthday Lakes trip last week, but now I am shamed into it. Well, maybe after more tea and toast I will...


The view from Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water to the Old Man with snow on the upper levels, while the trees were fringing it at lower levels in full autumn colour, was magnificent and rare.


(Odd though to have Gondola now running on wood, the smell of kippers was unnerving...)

I should take a pic of our largest holly tree also, I've never seen so many berries as this year.

Well, it's funny you should ask that. It so happens that I spotted this long-dead tree stump, the other day, tastefully adorned with a heart shape picked out in fungi. Ain't nature wonderful?

I am worried though. Somewhere on Coniston bobbing for eternity is a pink champagne cork(the booze not the cork colour).

Hope it's bobbing, and hasn't been eaten in error by the wildlife...

(It wasn't intended to reach the water, and we aren't usually litterbugs, but once it had we didn't think attempts to fish it out were a great idea...)
